How-To: Providing a Great Customer Experience
How-To: Providing a Great Customer Experience
Updated over a year ago

Once a customer orders from you, it is your chance to provide them with a great customer experience so they come back and order from you again. Follow along for 4 things you can do to provide a great customer experience:

1. Make Sure Your Order is On Time

The best way to help your customers receive their orders on time is ensuring that all of your orders are ready (either for pick-up or ready-to-go) or delivered to your drop-off location (if applicable) on time. Avoiding this step could mean that the order doesn’t make it to the customer on time and that they may have a bad experience (sometimes their first experience!). You can find your selected drop-off or pick-up information in the "My Profile" page of your Shef Dashboard.

If you deliver to a drop-off location, read here for more information.

If you use door-to-door delivery, read here for more information.

2. Label Your Dishes Clearly

Customers may not be as familiar with your dishes as you are, so providing them with clear labels of what the dish is, how to reheat it/prepare it, and what to pair it with is important in them having a great eating experience. This is especially important if you've provided sauces or other items on the side.

Important Tips for Labeling:

  • Make sure the customer name is provided on the label and is correct before labeling

  • Double check the expiration date is correct

  • Double check that the reheating instructions are correct and are easy for the customer to follow

  • Don't leave any items un-marked/un-labeled

  • Don't cover the food item label when grouping items (if applicable)

  • Don't put single order labels on multi-label items (if applicable)

3. Invest in Good Packaging

Sending your food off in high quality packaging is the best way to ensure that customers will receive your items the way you intend them to. You want to make sure that no food will spill, break, or leak on its way to your customer. When customers experience these situations, they may not be able to try your food and may not order again. You can find the Shef Team's recommendations for packaging here.

Tip: read through this article to make sure you're packing your orders correctly as well.

4. Surprise & Delight Your Customers
