Give-Get Referral Program
Starting January 1, 2024, you can qualify for cash bonuses and other rewards by referring new customers to order from Shef! Customers get $45 off ($15 off their first 3 orders) and you earn up to $30 in CASH for every new customer.
[Update]: Starting September 1, 2024, tiered rewards will be removed for the foreseeable future.
How it Works
Your give-get referral code gives new customers $15 off their first 3 orders ($45 total, paid by us). A new customer is any customer who has not ordered from Shef before - you can refer new customers in any city where Shef currently operates!
Every time a customer uses your give-get referral code to place an order, you earn a $10 cash bonus (up to 3 orders, $30 total per new customer). Be sure to let your customers know they can use your code 3 times and encourage them to continue using it!
As you get more & more referrals, you will also qualify for extra rewards to help grow your business!
Referral Reward Tiers
As you earn more referrals, you'll unlock new exciting rewards in addition to the cash bonus you receive for every referral order! Every time you unlock a reward, you will receive an email with details on how to redeem it.
Rewards are based on the total number of times your give-get referral code is used. For example, you can refer 2 new customers (3 orders each = 6 total redemptions) OR 5 new customers (1 order each = 5 total redemptions) to qualify for the first reward!

Referrals are only counted once the order has been delivered to the customer. An order that is canceled before delivery will not be counted as a referral.
For marketing features, you must have a 4.5 rating or higher at the time of unlocking the reward.

1. Find Your Give-Get Referral Code
Head to the Grow Your Business page of your Shef Dashboard to find your unique give-get referral code & link.
Your code & link are unique to you and for new customers only.
2. Share Your Give-Get Referral Code
Share your code with friends & family across the country! Customers can use your code to order from any shef, anywhere Shef is operating. As long as they use your code, it'll still count as a referral for you.
Get creative with different ways to share & promote your code to find new customers. You can find easy ways to share in your Shef Dashboard (e.g., Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.).
Remind customers that they can use your code on their first 3 orders!
3. Track Your Progress & Start Earning!
You will begin to accumulate referrals (+ cash and rewards) once each order has been delivered to the customer.
You can track your lifetime new customer referrals + total referral code redemptions in the Grow Your Business page of your Shef Dashboard.

What is a new customer referral vs. total referral code uses?
A “new customer referral” counts every new customer who has placed their first order using your give-get referral code. “Total referral code uses” counts every time your code has been used, including multiple orders from the same customer.Remember that customers can place their first 3 orders using your code. To maximize your credits, you should try to get your count of ‘total referral code uses’ to equal 3x your new customer referrals!
How do I know when I’ve unlocked a reward?
Your total referral code uses are tracked in your Shef Dashboard here. When you've unlocked any of the tiered rewards, you will receive an email from the Shef Team with details & next steps. *Not applicable after September 1, 2024.
When will I receive my cash bonus(es)?
Your $10 cash bonuses will be sent to you via Stripe on a bi-weekly cadence. You will receive an email or text message once it has been completed with your weekly accumulated referral redemptions.
Will the $45 discount come out of my earnings?
No, we cover the full cost of the customer discount! If the customer places an order from you, you will receive your normal earnings AND the additional cash bonuses. If the customer uses your code to place an order from another shef, you will still receive the cash bonuses (and rewards!).
Who can use this promo code?
All new customers who have never ordered from Shef platform before are eligible to receive this discount. You can share your code with new customers anywhere Shef is available for delivery!
How many times can a customer use my give-get referral code?
A new customer can use your give-get referral code up to 3 times, but only on their first 3 orders. If they place additional orders on Shef without your code, they’ll no longer be able to use your give-get referral code multiple times.
Can new customers only use it on my menu?
New customers can use your give-get referral code or link to order from any shef, anywhere Shef is available! Even if they don't order directly from you, you will still receive your cash bonuses (and rewards!) as long as they use your code or link to place their first order.
When are referrals considered valid?
You will begin to accumulate referrals (+ cash bonuses and rewards) once each order has been delivered to the customer. An order that is canceled before delivery will not be counted as a referral.
What other restrictions are in place?
Existing customers who fraudulently attempt to use your give-get referral code will not receive a discount, and you will not receive the cash bonuses for any orders that result from such fraudulent use. Any encouragement of fraudulent use may result in code deactivation and/or restrictions to your Shef account.
