How to offer dishes for a limited time in Weekly Shef Service

What are Limited Time Specials?

A way to offer or test new menu items for 1-4 weeks. For example:

  • Special 1: a new dish you want to test for popularity

  • Special 2: a dish to keep customers excited about your menu

  • Special 3: a hard-to-make dish you want to offer for a short period

Why is Shef offering this?

  1. Subscribers want more variety! It’s the #1 cancellation reason, and very important for keeping customers coming back.

  2. To let shefs flex their creative muscles! Shefs have been asking us for ways to quickly roll out new dishes.

  3. It's the fastest way to get new dishes approved! Limited Time Specials are prioritized for review by our culinary team.

How will my specials be surfaced to customers?

They will be shown in multiple places, likely a combination of: a dedicated section, a filter view, tags on your dish(es), and email announcements. So, extra ways to get more eyes on your food! Here's a video demo for how it will work!

Where is this being offered?

It is being tested in select markets now. If you are eligible, you will see more information and a link to propose a Special in your shef dashboard under My Menu.

What if I want to keep the dish on for longer than 4 weeks?

If it’s doing well, you should! You will be able to convert it to a permanent dish on your core menu after the limited time period is up.

How do I get started?

  1. Propose a New Dish - and select "Variety: Limited Time Special" on the "Why are you proposing this dish?" screen.

    1. If you need some dish ideas, here's a list.

  2. Wait for our team's response / comments

  3. When approved, fill in all the dish details and submit your photo
